Berry Season in the Midwest

 

What's your favorite holiday? I would have to say that mine is berry season.

Late June marks the start of berry season for all but the earliest strawberries. There is absolutely nothing like the luxury of eating a perfectly ripe berry just inches from where it grew. I spent about an hour at a u-pick berry farm in Ohio yesterday. I came home with strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, and the first of the black raspberries.

Time to grab some local eggs and make angel food cake or pavlova!
