Edible Perennials that Might be in Your Backyard

What's edible in your backyard? Even if you are in the Midwest or somewhere still dealing with frosts and even hard freezes, there are plenty of fresh things to eat growing not too far from your back door. Most of these plants are easy to find in Ohio. I picked all of them on April 26, and it's no wonder that Cheryl Frasier gave "April 25th" as her answer for her idea of a perfect date in Miss Congeniality...just look at this harvest to be had!

If you don't have these growing in your yard, you can plant them for harvesting year after year. Most all of these are easy to find throughout Northwest Ohio and the Midwest in general and can be foraged in many neighborhoods for local eating in the springtime.
